Home Wreker Movie: A Dedication to the Late Lumko Johnson
Before passing away in 2022 around September, the late Lumko Johnnson, was busy working on a South African Netflix project, Home Wreker.
This is arguable the biggest project in terms of their acting career that they ever took part on. This goes to say that they were just starting being noticed in the cinema industry after almost a decade old career. And this follows a change in how they presented themselves in the public eye.
Could this sudden notice be attributed to the fact that they were true to themselves after years of concealing their true identity in the fear of judgement?
A couple of years ago after several years in the public eye, Johnson came out as non-binary, and started to embrace their identity through clothes and other ways.
It is unfortunate that they are not here to answer that question for themselves and to also witness the amazing work they had done on the film.
Johnson was part of the cast and acted the role of a receptionist named Buso. They were present in a couple if scenes throughout the movie. Their character, Buso, is seen doing the usual activities of the receptionist. They were a great supporting actor to the point that the film producers saw it fit to pay tribute to them.
It must have been sad for their family and friends to watch them on their screens after attending their funeral almost a year ago. But at the same time, they must have been proud to see them doing what they loved and great at. They must have thought to themselves that this was their break through in the film industry that could have opened many doors for them.
It is without a doubt that those thoughts are echoed by many people who loved and admired them.

The film is available on Netflix for people to stream and it has been doing well. According to Latoya Makhene who plays the main character named Kenzie on the film, it made it to the top 1 movies in South Africa and in top 5 in the US.
