Celebrate Bisexuality Day : Here are 3 ways to observe the day

Celebrate Bisexuality Day is observed worldwide on an annual basis. On this particular day, bisexuals as both individuals and as a community are celebrated. This day is also used as the opportunity to shine the light on the history of bisexuality.

This day is also known as Bi Visibility Day. For most people especially those found within the community might think this phrase is more appropriate. And this is of course when one takes into consideration how the group has been invisible since the existence of the LGBQTA+ acronym.

Whenever there is a discussion that centers around the queer community, gays and lesbians, are the two groups that enjoys the most attention and the rest are treated as accessories. This is harmful to the bi folks. For instance, the policies and measures that are formulated to better the queer people will not work for the bi community because their issues were never given proper attention.

And with September designated as Bisexual Awareness Month, this might slowly change as bisexual issue is given a spotlight. March in countries such as the US and UK is noted as Bisexuality Awareness Month.

With that being said, here is how people can observe the day;

Read about bisexuality
Expand your knowledge on bisexuality as a topic. Read both ancient and latest academic research on the matter. Seek information about bisexuality that is slightly more advance. This is because some blogs will likely repeat most of the things that one already knows and eventually make one bored.

Binge bisexual inclusive shows
This is a great way to learn about the struggles of the community. Some of the shows will tackles the issues from an old point of view and while others will shine a light on current bi issues. A better way for people who are not fond of books. There are many genres from comedy to drama and from soap operas to films that include bi characters.

Educate the public
Use your social media platforms to highlight the struggles faced by bi people. You can share online articles and statistics if possible with your followers. This will end the erasure of the community and their issues will not be under the shadow anymore.

We all have a role to play in bettering the lives of others, and small acts such as having empathy and kindness towards goes a long way. We need to learn more about others to prevent us from formulating misconceptions and myths about a certain that might put them in danger.
